J'accuse of 25 August 2023 democracies and dictatorships confronting internal enemies: truth and propaganda in a difficult international context

If we compare the two current events that have pitted and still pit on the American side the current tenant of the White House Joe Biden against the former American president Donald Trump with the one that has already seen its obvious epilogue between Prigzohin and the current head of the Kremlin, Putin, we notice a subtle common denominator to both: when it comes to the power and vital interests of a regime whatever its matrix, the line between legality and violence becomes thin and sometimes non-existent. If the Americans want to pass off their democracy as the most authentic and the most solid in the world, certainly there are significant and growing aspects and criticalities to endorse this idea, because it is the story of the judicial persecution that President Trump is undergoing , obviously connected to well-known internal and international events, and his declared will to interrupt immediately after his election all support for Zelensky and his war, say a lot about the farce underway which is obviously served to American public opinion and world to implement plans that are democratic to say the least and respectful of the political and civil rights of citizens. There is no doubt that the Deep State is in action with all means at its disposal to bar Trump's way. But will he succeed? We ask how far can an internal enemy go to maintain power? The dramatic and emblematic story of the killing of President Kennedy and his brother Robert tells us well where this monster can get when his interests are in danger. We will be able to tell each other about this new soap opera of the judicial investigations into Trump, we will be able to comment on it with caution and impartiality, because we feel that the right of a people to freely choose their leadership is in serious danger. In parallel, in Putinian Russia at war against the West to defend its vital interests as a world superpower, things are not so easy. But when we compare Western accounts of the latter we sense contradictions and even blatant inaccuracies, not to mention lies. We have seen since the outbreak of the conflict how propaganda has sacrificed the truth to reason and dialogue. Do you remember that Western commentators and strategists gave Russia for collapsed after the first six months, then Putin sick with cancer, then populations and armies would rebel against the dictator... all this never happened and Russia held out. The question now that arises after all these upheavals and tragedies, how much longer will the war continue? Those who know American politics well know that as long as Biden is there, the conflict will continue and that is why the electoral campaign will also have legal implications and predictable twists and turns. But does democracy still hold? The gag placed on the free press is perceptible in the bland comments on the facts that arrive every day. Where is the objective analysis of the facts? Do you still have the foreman or have you seen it at the arms dealer markets? The latest drama of Prigzohin's death is celebrated as Putin's revenge! Whether he would be looking for her or not? The head of Wagner owed everything to the head of the Kremlin but that's not the real issue. Would a military leader have moved his soldiers from the front to bring them to the Russian capital without knowing that he would have signed his professional and physical epilogue? In all military systems this would be called high treason and is punishable by the death penalty, except for a pardon if granted by the head of state. Too bad for the head of Wagner, he would have helped to end the conflict in his own way, without causing the fractures and critical issues resulting from his action. Russia will never become a Western democracy but if left to itself, it could have better developments than those who see it opposed and isolated by the West itself. The real problem is the question of how to leave room for dissent whether it is democracy or dictatorship, but when you try to eliminate dissenting voices either through physical liquidations or through democratic methods such as ad hoc judicial inquiries, then we are obviously faced with a degeneration and it is worse than what happens under the light of the sun in a dictatorship, because such a democracy is an unsustainable and fraudulent comedy that will find nourishment in lies and falsehoods, altering the entire society to which it belongs. Democracy is living and letting live, building not only for oneself but also for others, it is giving up power so that it can also be exercised by others, teaching that in a free society, power belongs to everyone.
