At evry fall, hope- poetry

At evry fall, hope

Allegoria della speranza, Giorgio Vasari 1542, Venice's Gallery

Now that I walk through green fields

Between vanished dreams and extinguished loves

The thought of a time flashes through my mind

Oh grace you who flee me like a flash!

The time of desire is so far away

But all the dreams do not set yet…

Even though I do not breathe joy in this field

It is in the song of every flower

Of every breath of life that does not die

He looks at me now and wonders if in my body

My heart beats; Am I not your mentor?

Guardian angel, the dead do not count the hours!

Ask them about their Olympus…

They will tell you that all certainties are chimeras

That they desert like the most blooming springs

But in my heart I feel a tear

An unstoppable desire to discover

beyond living and dying…

Now that I question every flash

And I illuminate myself with every juncture

In the immense fleeting cosmos

I get up at every blow

At every fall I feed myself

Like the lighthouse of every extinguished dream
