J'Accuse the Most Significant Political Events in Domestic and International Politics (Italy)
Two interconnected events caught my attention, both for their domestic and international political significance and because they demonstrate the illiberal and hypocritical nature of this government. The first is the release of Imam Shain by the Italian judiciary, deeming him not a threat to the country's security. Let's remember that the Imam was arrested for expressing his views on October 7th, something all Italians freely and critically do, both toward the Zionist Israeli state that occupies Palestinian lands and kills them with impunity, both before and after October 7th, even perpetrating genocide in Gaza. Obviously, if some have called the Brothers of Italy party today the country's leading governing party, the lobbyist that covers up and defends Netanyahu's genocidal and criminal policies, this speaks volumes about the democratic nature and disrespect for human rights adopted by this government. The second fact is the invitation to Abu Mazen to the Brothers of Italy Festival and its exploitation by the media and politics. Indeed, in my humble opinion, Abu Mazen has already been distrusted by the Palestinian people. He effectively no longer represents them, and his mandate expired long ago. His own positions are often inconsistent and sometimes even against the interests of his own political party. All this is because they want to assign this Palestinian political authority a role it no longer has in the Palestinian world: the representation and defense of human rights and its sovereignty. The same killings that are committed every day in the West Bank, perpetrated by both settlers and the Tel Aviv army, are usually carried out with the knowledge and sometimes close coordination of their respective security forces. Abu Mazen at Atreju is therefore a joke. When you consider that the Meloni government was the third government in the world to have provided support and weapons to Netanyahu to commit his crimes, I shudder to hear the Prime Minister say that Italy had helped the Palestinians!
The other two international political incidents will be the subject of another J'accuse tomorrow.
