J'Accuse of 11 January 2024 on the Rai reports on the genocide of the people of Gaza

The day before last night on the Rai 1 8pm news, we watch yet another reportage on the Gaza Strip. This time it is an interview with a Jewish settler who speaks Italian. He is presented as the first of the Jewish Kipputz settlers settled in Gaza to return to his own.

The journalist asks her how he had the courage to return after October 7th? He replies that his life and his work are there, in these lands where the fumes of the Israeli air force bombings can still be heard and seen. The journalist asks him again if he was born in that place? The Settler stammers, as if the question caused him a bit of embarrassment; he speaks almost correct Italian. He replies yes, I was born here, but then…, his parents were not born there. They came from Europe. Then the settler takes the journalist to one of the cultivated fields around there. He shows her the ready potatoes and adds with his satisfaction: it's worth coming back here, it's our farm! So why was there October 7th if it's yours? I would have liked the Rai journalist to ask him a final question: But is it worth killing tens of thousands of Palestinians for his potatoes? Gaza wasn't a wasteland before his parents put down roots there. In truth, this type of journalism justifies plundering and genocide and the most serious thing is that Rai, in addition to the serious fact that it does it with our tax money, must rather, beyond the current political controls, disseminate information that it complies with the spirit of our republican constitution, centered on justice, the defense of values and human rights and never go into reporting that has the aim of masking reality and justifying the occupation of Palestinian lands by force.
